Friends of John William Education Center
Our current project
This year our focus is on making computers more useful for the John William Montessori School community.
Many of the computers in the school were more than five years old, and all of them were heavily used.

One serious problem is the current. This is not solved by using the surge protectors most of us are familiar with. It is necessary to use voltage stabilizers, something that only audiophiles may need to know about in countries with more dependable supplies of current.
We have collected nearly one hundred fifty computers and nearly as many monitors from kind donors. We have also received some very useful printers and a great amount of the hardware which will be used in networking the computers.
These are being shipped early in August 2006, with the hope that the school will receive them by the end of September.
We are arranging for a computer expert to spend a few months at the school helping with the networking and installing LINUX in some of the older machines.
